Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Our website address is: https://can-ata.com. As a specialised platform focused on embryology, in vitro fertilisation (IVF), and reproductive health, we understand that medical and reproductive data are among the most sensitive personal information in the world. We are strictly committed to safeguarding your digital privacy with the same meticulous care we apply in a clinical embryology laboratory.

2. Comments and Interactive Forums

When visitors leave comments on our platform to ask questions or share experiences, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. This is strictly to help with spam detection and protect our community from malicious content. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if any) is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Please refrain from sharing sensitive personal medical data in public comment sections.

3. Media and File Uploads

If you upload images (such as test results, ultrasound outputs, or general images) to the website, avoid those with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can theoretically download and extract location data from images on the website. We strongly recommend stripping all personally identifiable information (PII) from any medical media before uploading.

4. Cookies and Digital Tracking

  • If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

  • If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

  • When you log in to our patient/user portals, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be immediately removed.

  • If you edit or publish an article/post, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

5. Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., educational medical videos, scientific charts, external articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor has visited that website. These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We only embed content from highly trusted medical, scientific, and verified sources.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, rent, or exploit your personal or medical data for marketing purposes. Your trust is our highest priority. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security verification.

7. How Long We Retain Your Data

  • If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

  • For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators and authorised technical staff can also see and edit that information under strict confidentiality agreements.

8. What Rights You Have Over Your Data

Under GDPR and international data protection laws, you hold complete sovereignty over your data. If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we completely erase any personal data we hold about you (“Right to be Forgotten”). This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, medical auditing, or security purposes.

9. Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments and form submissions may be checked through an automated spam detection service. All data transfers happening within can-ata.com are secured with industry-standard SSL/TLS encryption to ensure your digital reproductive health journey remains entirely confidential.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or about how your data is handled, please reach out through the Contact page.
